Blogging for a chaotic mind

I should really buy stock in Post-its. My brain's synapses fire in random directions, which is especially difficult when it's time to focus. It seems my best ideas come when I sit down to write that report, or design a workshop. The best way I've found to capture and organize all my ideas is to put them on post it notes and use my walls as my canvas. I can briefly stop, capture my thought, and then get back on track without losing too much time.

One of the best things that happens as a result are the conversations with others when they come over and browse my walls like they're at an art gallery viewing my mind. It's colorful, chaotic, and stimulating. It so often seems that what I'm working on relates to what they working on or thinking about.

During a rare visit from my sister, our conversation was rushed and scattered. I hadn't seen her in person in months, and this was probably the first time we'd had alone together in years. We usually squeeze our phone conversations in between meetings and picking up the kids from school. As you can imagine, most of our conversations are rushed and fairly superficial. So we after we tried to talk about everything all at once - kids, work, relationships, the state of the world - we realized we hadn't finished a single one. So, I started to take notes on my wall-mounted whiteboard. It gave us the chance to slow down a bit, relax together and really talk to each other in a way we hadn't in a long time. Plus, our inner children just enjoyed writing on the wall.

So, my approach to this blog will include all of the above: words, snippets, images, pictures and hopefully the output will be some great ideas and conversations.
